GUIDED STEELHEAD
FISHING ON THE KLICKITAT RIVER THIS FALL! |
02/23/2016 |
|
Autumn fly fishing for one of the worlds most
sought after game fish is about to hit its peak
for the season. The Columbia River Summer
Steelhead has been returning since the latter
portion of spring after a two to four year life
cycle in the salt waters of the Pacific Ocean. |
|
The numbers of fish are good and we will
continue to see their arrival to freshwater well
through the month of November. Again this
season, the Professional Guide Service of Worley
Bugger Fly Co. has teamed up with the
Flying L Ranch in Glenwood,
Washington just minutes from the
Klickitat
River to accommodate our fly fishing guests.
This unique, on site lodge nestled quietly below
the towering peaks of Mount Adam’s is a warm,
comfortable place to rest your bones after a day
of fly fishing. |
|
 |
|
|
|
|
Surrounded by ponderosa pines and meadowland
of the Glenwood Valley, the Flying L Ranch at
Mount Adam’s is a long-established 80-acre
ranch. It is located just minutes from the
Upper
Klickitat River, where Worley Bugger Fly Co.
has spent the last twelve seasons guiding our
friends and guest. |
|
This 4,000 square-foot ranch house was the
original home of the Lloyd family, the
founders of the Flying L Ranch. Built in 1945,
it has a spacious living room with a stone
fireplace, library, piano, stereo, and a
wonderful view of the mountain. Its large,
fully-equipped kitchen, along with the living
room, serve as common areas for all guests.
The lodge is equipped with seven guest rooms
and three log cabins. Each is comfortable in
its own right and are available to our guests.
Put your feet up and enjoy a warm comfortable
room or cabin with a hot shower after a long
day of steelhead fishing. |

August 20th-2011
Steve,
Again, thanks for the trip. Gene and I both enjoyed
trip even without landing a fish. The hook up I had
was both curious and exciting. The initial sight of
someone else's line and spinner threw me off a bit.
In retrospect I could have let fish rundown stream a
little more since he was not into the backing. I
have put landing a Klickitat steelhead on my bucket
list. Seriously thing about another trip in Sept.
instead of Yakima trip end of month. Gene likes
Yakima better because he catches fish on that
river. So far he has not had a steelhead bite on the
Klick.
Are there any open slots for a Klick trip Sept. 7,
13, or 14? Just asking for now. I am working on my
St. Croix switch blank. Might have rod finished in
a week.
Hope you folks caught a few fish Thursday
Elliot. |

August 23rd-2011
Just wanted to let you know Rand
and I had an excellent time fishing with Russell
last Saturday. Hopefully Russell let you know I
met my personal and did not hook a single person
ALL DAY! So now that I have a little fly fear I
have a question that maybe you could answer. Would
the Redington Pursuit fly rod and reel 5 weight 9
foot in length be a good starter outfit that I
would be able to cast?

August 2nd-2011
Steve:
Thanks to
Russell for a great day on the river. We had a
little wind to contend with but the day was
great. Russ, I’m sure was a little frustrated at
me, he put us on a lot of fish and I just couldn’t
hook-up. I missed a lot and twice missed
REALLLLLLLLLLLLLY good fish.
I enjoyed the
day, it thought it especially nice that Russ
reserved the entire river for us with not another
boat of fisherman in sight.
Thanks again,
see you next year.
Jim Robertson
