Here, Steve Worley, Owner of Worley Bugger Fly Co. demonstrates how to tie the "Spaced Out Bob" jig nymph.  This is an productive pattern where ever mayfly nymphs are present in a river or stream.  Tied on a jig style nymph hook and a heavily weighted tungsten bead, this patterns hook rides upright in the water, which can attribute to a higher hook up percentage and less snags with bottom river structures.

This pattern was rightly named due to the mistake made by a commercial fly tying company.  The professional tier was suppose to be tying Copper Bob nymphs, which are similar in design, however the body is tied with various colors of wire.  Here, the tier used dubbing instead, but in turn created a new, highly productive trout nymph.  The mistake was not discovered until the professional tier had already assembled hundreds of dozens of the "Spaced Out Bob".  The company sent them to the WBFC guide staff to try and after only one day on the Yakima River in Central Washington, WBFC bought every single dozen that were tied.  The fly is now in commercial production and can be found in many fly shop around the country.
