The name Tim Irish, is a
well known designation, echoed throughout the Yakima
River corridor in Central Washington. Tim was well
known for his huge heart as well as his tremendous wealth of
fly-fishing knowledge. His capacity and
willingness to mentor the
young fly-fishing guides in the Kittitas Valley,
regarding the intricacies of the Yakima River and
its stubborn trout, is well documented. Over the years,
Timbo innovated dozens of flies for influencing
trout on this renowned, Central Washington River.
While operating the first fly-fishing guiding
operation on the Yakima River in the late 80's, Timbo became
legendary for his skills and his passion for fly
tying as well as the intricate teaching of the construction
processes. Timbo, as
his friends referred to him, was a huge propionate
of Polypropylene Yarn, a floating fly tying material. He loved its ability to float
and the ease in which you could apply it to a
sharpened steel iron.
During his tenure guiding, the Irish Stacked Wing Caddis and Stacked Wing
Emerger were a favorite of his to use during caddisfly hatches. Shortly before his death in the spring
of 2013, the Irish Stacked Wing Caddis was featured
in the "Fish
Food" segment in the popular, Northwest Fly Fishing Magazine.
This two page article was also
inscribed exclusively by our favorite Yakima River
Fly Fishing Guide, Tim Irish. Today, Steve Worley is
honored
to demonstrates and share with you, how to tie both the adult
version as well as the emerger of the "Irish Stacked
Wing Caddis". Thanks for viewing
and sharing.
