Steve Worley, Owner and Guide at WBFC in this video segment presents the "Grape Ape" fly pattern.  The Yakima River during the summer flows with a massive amount of cold water that is deposited into the river from the headwater reservoirs.  This cold, clean water moves at a good clip. During the summer months of mid July To late August, the trout in the Yakima River turn their attentions to terrestrial insects that flourish along the banks of the river.  These trout see many different colors and varieties of insects during this time.  Hence the "Grape Ape".  A great attractor pattern that was created to attract the river trout to this fly.  Ideal uses for casting into tight, brush siturations or use in tandem, as a "hopper dropper" rig setup. The "Grape Ape" is a high floating attractor style fly that could represent a stonefly, hopper or other terrestrial insect. Grape Ape can be tied as large as a size 6 or as small as a 12.
